Typical Qualifications

• Certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board
• Valid Illinois Driver’s License
• Over the age of 21 and under the age of 65
• A legal citizen of the United States, or legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law, or an individual whose immigration action has been deferred through the DACA process
• Must be in good standing in the law enforcement agency in which the person serves, served, or was laid off due to budgetary restraints
• Possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a City of Geneva Police Officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the City Education
• Possess an associate degree or 60-semester hours of credit from an institution accredited by the U.S. Department of Education

Additional Residency Requirement

Must reside within 25 miles of the corporate limits of the City (as measured by straight-line distances).
