Sacoma Specialty Products is looking for a hands-on, on-site Waterjet Operator to join our manufacturing team. The Waterjet Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating waterjet equipment to cut a variety of materials according to specifications and production requirements while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate the Waterjet machine
  • Load and run 2D cutting programs
  • Inspect part quality and maintain accurate records
  • Perform routine maintenance
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and proper material handling
  • Ensure compliance with all safety standards
  • Perform quality first piece inspections and obtain Quality approvals as needed
  • Separate finished product from the skeleton
  • Load and run programs set by Engineering
  • Ensure the quality of the product
  • Get assistance from the Team Leader or Engineering when the machine is not cutting correctly
  • Know how to start and stop the Water Jet properly
  • Run 2D programs provided by Engineering and ensure proper nesting and cut alignment on the machine
  • Load steel, unload finished parts and skeletons from the Waterjet and 2D lasers; organize parts per job order and prepare them for shipping
  • Responsible for all material handling and inventory of Waterjet parts and steel plates
  • Repair of all nonconforming parts
  • Update DXFs and delete old files when a programming alert has been received
  • Keep necessary operational and quality records and complete required paperwork
  • Remain productive and assist with other tasks during machine transitions or downtime
  • Implement continuous improvement ideas
  • 6-S responsibility for the area
  • Dispose of scrap skeletons responsibly in the correct recycling dumpsters
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks at the prescribed frequency to maintain the machine in good working order
  • Perform additional tasks as needed to support production goals or team initiatives

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Trained to operate an overhead crane
  • Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Must have excellent attendance as well as willingness and ability to work overtime
  • Physically demanding task of unloading parts from sheet steel skeletons throughout the shift
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds continuously
  • Must be able to pull and position steel plates
  • Must be able to stand for long periods
