Job Description
The position is responsible for correct set-up for the proper selection of material and operation of Automated or manual load/unload in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Other duties include inspecting, sticker placement, sorting parts, and plasma cutting. The position may assume additional duties as assigned.
The successful incumbent will be detail oriented, able to follow instructions well, and work well in a team atmosphere.
Education / Experience / Certifications
- High school diploma or GED not required but preferred
- Previous experience in Laser and Punch Operation preferred
Activities / Tasks
Laser Operator
- Sets-up and operates machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
- Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specification, accurately and in a timely fashion
- Performs minimal programming on machine
- Cuts and inspects parts for accuracy, places correct stickers on parts and sorts
- Assists in performance of trouble shooting on machine when needed
- Correctly interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Safely and effectively use of hand tools, measuring tape, and machinery
- Operate an overhead crane
- Drive a forklift
Punch Operator
- Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings correctly
- Sets-up and operates machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
- Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specification, accurately and in a timely fashion
- Assists in performing trouble shooting on machine when needed
- Safely and effectively use hand tools, measuring tape, and machine equipment
- Inspects finished products
- Sharpens tools as needed
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to set-up machines
- Ability to apply shop mathematics to solve problems
- Ability to plan work and select proper tools
- Ability to correctly and safely use hand tools (both manual and pneumatic)
- Ability to read a tape measure in metric and imperial standards
- Ability to compare and accurately determine difference in size, shape, and form of objects
- Ability to read effectively from a paper copy
- Ability to work within precise limits and/or standards of accuracy

Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 50 pounds; 50+ pounds with assistance
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing, twisting, reaching, working at heights, and using a ladder as required
- Able to use both hands overhead
- Perform repetitive motions
- Plant environment with potential exposure to all types of weather, including excessive heat, excessive cold, and excessive noise
