About the Role
The Laser Programmer creates, tests, and optimizes digital cutting paths for CNC laser machines using CAD/CAM software, nests parts to minimize material waste, and ensures components match engineering blueprints.
Responsibilities
- Write and edit offline or online programs using software like IGEMS, MetaCAM, or Feature CAM, arranging layouts to maximize sheet metal efficiency.
- Read technical drawings, work orders, and sketches to verify correct dimensions and tolerances.
- Select proper laser power, gas, focus, and speeds for different materials.
- Diagnose cutting errors or software bugs, adjusting toolpaths to reduce scrap and downtime.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, or tape measures.
- Issue material to jobs using SL scanner and KANBAN material racks.
- Perform all other tasks that may be requested by management.
Requirements
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to follow and complete daily production schedules.
- Ability to use basic math to analyze information and measuring equipment.
- Additional courses in Laser set-up and operation are preferred.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently.
- Ability to work on a team and independently.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Laser experience is a must.
- 2-5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Bending and stooping for long periods of time.
- Sitting and standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Lifting over head up to 30 lbs. on a frequent basis.
- Pushing and pulling on a continuous basis.
Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to Gainesville, GA 30504.
