About the Role

The Laser Programmer creates, tests, and optimizes digital cutting paths for CNC laser machines using CAD/CAM software, nests parts to minimize material waste, and ensures components match engineering blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Write and edit offline or online programs using software like IGEMS, MetaCAM, or Feature CAM, arranging layouts to maximize sheet metal efficiency.
  • Read technical drawings, work orders, and sketches to verify correct dimensions and tolerances.
  • Select proper laser power, gas, focus, and speeds for different materials.
  • Diagnose cutting errors or software bugs, adjusting toolpaths to reduce scrap and downtime.
  • Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, or tape measures.
  • Issue material to jobs using SL scanner and KANBAN material racks.
  • Perform all other tasks that may be requested by management.

Requirements

  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to follow and complete daily production schedules.
  • Ability to use basic math to analyze information and measuring equipment.
  • Additional courses in Laser set-up and operation are preferred.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work on a team and independently.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Laser experience is a must.
  • 2-5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Bending and stooping for long periods of time.
  • Sitting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Lifting over head up to 30 lbs. on a frequent basis.
  • Pushing and pulling on a continuous basis.

Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to Gainesville, GA 30504.
