Responsibilities
- Select the correct material type, size and thickness while maximizing material yield.
- Set up multiple machines, optimize parameters and ensure quality cuts with efficient feed rates.
- Perform scheduled "Laser Blitz" to utilize remnant material with minimal downtime.
- Provide backup support by covering breaks, lunches, and absences of other laser operators.
- Conduct routine machine maintenance, troubleshoot issues and coordinate with manufacturers as needed.
- Perform quality assurance checks on own work and coworkers' to meet customer specifications.
Requirements
- Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of material types, thickness, grades and machine flow.
- Understanding of machine operation and material cutting times.
- Ability to adjust laser parameters and nesting programs as needed.
- Skilled in managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of performing minor machine maintenance.

- Enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding and new hire training.

Pay
$25 - $27.85 hourly. A starting hourly wage higher than $25 is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale.
