Laser Operator

About the Role

Operate laser cutting machines to accurately and efficiently perform cutting jobs by interpreting part drawings or job instructions, executing cuts, and conducting inspections. Independently handle all setups, understand machine controls, and perform basic programming.

Responsibilities

• Produce parts that conform to drawing specifications by setting up, operating, and adjusting Bystronic laser cutting machines and their controls.
• Load and unload materials onto machines, verify material specifications, and make necessary equipment adjustments.
• Independently perform and execute all setups efficiently.
• Aim to meet or exceed job time standards.
• Troubleshoot issues with machine controls and part programs.
• Ensure accuracy of initial product runs to meet customer specifications.
• Perform secondary operations such as drilling, tapping, and deburring.
• Complete job paperwork and inspection reports accurately.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Uphold a positive company image.
• Perform miscellaneous shop duties and other assigned tasks as required.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in metal fabrication and/or laser operations.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent math skills.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
• Capability to stand for a full shift.
• Ability to pull, push, reach overhead, climb, and grasp tools.
