Laser Operator (2nd Shift)

About the role

Louis Industries is a modern steel processing facility serving over 180 customers in the upper Midwest. The Laser Operator role is critical in ensuring safe, efficient production and high-quality parts.

Responsibilities

• Operate laser cutting and/or punching machines on a regular basis
• Load, edit, and run machine programs
• Load raw material into sheet bays
• Maintain cutting quality while achieving acceptable feed rates
• Perform first-part and in-process inspections per work order requirements
• Complete general laser maintenance, including:
• Startup and shutdown procedures
• Window cleaning and nozzle centering
• Cleaning dust bins and replacing cutting beds
• Ensure all products meet prescribed quality standards
• Handle assorted steel raw material and steel scrap
• Separate (“pick”) parts from laser-cut skeletons and stack onto pallets or containers
• Packaging parts using banding or shrink wrap, as required
• Safely operate forklifts to load/unload material and move completed parts
• Operate small hand and power tools as needed
• Follow all safety regulations and company policies
• Support continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives

Requirements

• Forklift operating experience
• Certified crane operator experience preferred
• Knowledge of inventory control and manufacturing processes
• Ability to read blueprints and use inspection equipment
• Strong math skills
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• CAD training or experience preferred
• Mechanical aptitude; experience with electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems is a plus

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in manufacturing or related field preferred

Pay

The pay range for this role is $24 - $27 USD per hour in Paynesville, MN. A $2.00 shift differential is included in the pay range.

Schedule

This position is open for 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, from 4:00pm to 2:30am.
