Large Project Design Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple transmission and distribution projects of increasing complexity.
• Oversee projects including: Underground conversion for wildfire mitigation, Streetlighting, Residential developments, Commercial developments, Industrial developments, System maintenance, Capacity additions, Major budgeted projects, Road widening projects.
• Deliver timely, reliable, cost-effective, and constructible designs that meet customer connection requirements.
• Conduct complex technical analyses. Prepare or oversee complete engineering and construction designs utilizing: Design software, Engineering drawings, Material lists, Design specifications, Material specifications, Corporate accounting requirements, Cost estimates, Easements, Permits, Service requirements, Line-extension agreements.
• Make design decisions that ensure a transmission and distribution system that is: Cost-effective, Reliable, Safe, Constructible, Maintainable.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Computer-Assisted Design (CAD), or related technical field.
• Experience: Typically 5+ years of experience in Utility operations, Electrical distribution, Engineering design, or Project management.

Functional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Utility & Technical Knowledge: Intermediate knowledge of Company standards and tariffs, Company policies, Applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements, Engineering concepts and principles, Electrical transmission and distribution systems, Transmission and distribution standards and practices, National Electric Safety Code (NESC), National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Technical Systems: Working knowledge of Structural analysis software, Electrical analysis software, Work management systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer-aided design tools.
• Engineering & Design: Ability to apply engineering and design principles, interpret industry standards, apply governing electrical codes, produce accurate construction designs.
• Project Management: Working ability to plan and execute multiple concurrent projects, organize competing priorities, manage changing schedules and timelines, coordinate projects throughout the customer connection process, collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.

• Requires consistent use of logical and analytical thinking to define complex problems, collect and analyze information, establish facts, draw sound conclusions, make informed decisions.

Physical Capabilities

• Driving/travel/commute: Daily within service territory - Frequently (at least once a week or more)
• Computer use: Regularly for entire work shift
• Lifting/pushing/pulling: Up to 10 lbs.
• Carrying: Up to 10 lbs.
• Unstable surfaces requiring balance (i.e., moving equipment, boats)

Schedule & Attendance Requirements

• Ability to work extended hours as business needs require
• Report to work during severe weather or emergency events
• Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable full-time attendance
