Lapper Machinist I

An introductory role focused on learning the fundamentals of lapping, polishing, and finishing operations. Employees in this level work under close supervision and follow established procedures to support production needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic lapping and polishing tasks under direct supervision.
• Follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures.
• Assist with setup and preparation of lapping equipment.
• Operate and tend lapping and related machines to meet dimensional and surface-finish requirements (± 40).
• Use precision measuring tools to verify part conformance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, measurements, and inspection results.
• Report defects or irregularities to senior machinists or supervisors.
• Perform routine maintenance on lapping equipment; report issues requiring engineering or maintenance support.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
