LANDSCAPING LEAD WORKER

Key Responsibilities

• Cuts lawns, using hand mower or power mower
• Trims and edges around walks, flower beds and walls, using clippers and edging tools
• Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears
• Rakes leaves and cleans or sweeps up litter using spiked stick or broom
• Shovels snow from walks and driveways
• Spreads salt on public passage ways
• Plants grass, flowers, trees and shrubs
• Waters lawn and shrubs during dry periods using hose or by activating fixed or portable sprinkler system
• Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts, using shovel and rake
• May operate walking type power mowers, snow blowers, roto tillers or riding mowers
• May operate chain saws, hedge trimmers and other hand held power operated tools to prune, cultivate, shovel, trim, cut and dig
• May use tractor equipped with attachments, such as mowers, lime or fertilizer spreaders and lawn roller
• Performs a variety of laboring duties when yard work is completed
• Performs other duties as assigned

  Physical Qualifications

  • Must be able to stand 33%, walk 33% and sit 33% of the work time
  • Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull 100 pounds
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and handle
  • Must be alert to safety hazards and have a method of communicating, so those around can respond and understand
  • Must be able to see and tell colors

  Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in landscape maintenance work including experience in mowing with push mower and weeding
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must have a valid drivers license
