Key Responsibilities
- Aid in the installation of landscape construction features such as patios, retaining walls, walkways, and outdoor structures.
- Prepare job sites by performing grading, trenching, and installation of soil, base materials, and aggregates.
- Install trees, shrubs, and plant materials according to project plans and specifications.
- Support installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of irrigation systems.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
- Assist with layout and measurements under supervision to ensure accurate installation.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites throughout all phases of construction.
- Follow all company safety policies and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with crew leaders and team members to support workflow and productivity.
- Monitor work areas for hazards and report safety concerns to supervisors.
- Adapt to changing jobsite conditions and assist with a variety of tasks as needed.
- Support snow operations during winter season as required.
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in landscape construction or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of hardscape installation, grading, and planting techniques.
- Experience with irrigation systems preferred.
- Ability to perform physical labor and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and reliability.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with paver installation, retaining walls, and site grading, familiarity with landscape construction equipment and tools, and bilingual in English and Spanish.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
This role is performed outdoors on active construction job sites with exposure to weather conditions, equipment, and physical labor. Work schedules may vary based on project demands, including early mornings, extended hours, and seasonal snow operations.

Additional Information
This is a non-exempt position and is eligible for overtime. This role requires daily outdoor work and support across multiple job sites. Employment with DCPS is at-will and may be terminated at any time, with or without cause or notice.
