Landscaper III - $1,500 Sign-on Bonus

About the role

Makena Golf & Beach Club, located on Maui, HI, is seeking a Landscaper III to join the Landscape Department.

Responsibilities

• Weed (chemical and manual)
• Lawn mowing
• String trimming
• Edging
• Mulching
• Pruning
• Raking
• Install new landscape plantings and annual color
• Water and maintain new plantings as well as annual plantings
• Participate in leaf removal during dormant seasons
• Safe operation of all hand tools, large and small equipment
• Keep all work areas orderly and neat
• Assist with landscape projects as requested
• Participate in daily set-up/closing of the departments’ tools and equipment
• Report any safety or maintenance issues immediately to the Landscape Director
• Attend department meetings and trainings as necessary

Qualifications

• Prior experience in landscaping, preferably within a residential or hospitality environment
• Ability to operate landscape machinery such as push rotary mowers, string trimmers, backpack blowers, utility vehicles, and riding mowers
• Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles properly and safely
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Able to work in a team environment
• Able to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds

Additional Requirements

• Basic knowledge of proper chemical and fertilizer applications to maintain a healthy and aesthetically pleasing landscape
• Long hours may be required due to business demands
