Landscape Services Supervisor

Responsibilities
- Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the daily operations of Facilities and Landscape workers, including landscape installation and maintenance, mowing/trimming, snow and ice removal, related equipment operation, fertilizer applications, etc.
- Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure compliance with established standards; direct any rework or modifications; develop, implement, and monitor procedures to ensure efficiency of operations.
- Assign and review work, orient and train staff, and make recommendations as to interviewing and selection, performance appraisal, and discipline.
- Career with university departments for Facilities and Landscape Workers as needed for labor; assign and monitor work.
- Responsible for flowerbeds in zones assigned; includes layout and fertilizer application, supervision of installation and maintenance.
- Cookordinate/arrange repair and maintenance of grounds equipment as needed; follow up on such repairs/maintenance to assure completion.
- Plan, coordinate, and schedule training for various areas of ground maintenance practices and procedures, including landscape installation and maintenance, mowing/trimming, snow and ice removal.
- Update, maintain, and train workers on various job related chemicals, tools, environmental and safety concerns, and MSDS/OSHA regulations; have a working knowledge of Health and Environmental Safety Programs that apply to landscape services.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Monitor and enforce all safety, shop, and university rules and regulations and report problems to the Associate Director of Landscape/ Environmental Management and resolve problems appropriately.
- Gather and provide information to management for budget preparation, cost analysis, forecasting, recommendations for equipment purchases, time studies, etc.
- Participate in the rotation for the on call snow event emergency call process with other Landscape Services supervision.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Eighteen months of training or education beyond high school or equivalent.
- Three through five years of experience in grounds maintenance, landscape installation, nursery, garden center, or related area;
- One year in supervisory experience;
- Must possess and maintain a valid Indiana Driver’s License and be insurable under the university’s auto fleet policy.
