About the role

Benchmark Companies is seeking a qualified applicant to join our growing team to lead our regional mulch installation division. This position is the quintessential “leadership from the front” role for our mulch installation crews, playing a critical role in driving and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity in our daily operations while elevating and unifying our staff.

Responsibilities

  • Create and foster an environment of camaraderie and teamwork
  • Train and enforce all safety procedures and policies
  • Ensure work is performed to the quality level expected by the company and demanded by our clients
  • Oversee training and development of installation staff
  • Identify and create performance improvement plans for struggling crew leaders and crew members
  • Ensure that no crew is dispatched without a clear scope of work and proper equipment
  • Challenge the established job plans periodically and continuously improve the plans
  • Perform pre-installation inspections for new jobs before the work begins
  • Identify low performing jobs and re-plan the work to improve performance
  • Act as a liaison between field operations and the administrative, customer service, and general management functions
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standards
  • Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish
  • CDL preferred, but will assist in achieving this license
  • Must be eligible to work in the US
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
  • 5 years of landscape experience including 2 years in some management capacity is preferred
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to adapt to new software programs
  • Must be able to move and/or lift up to 60 pounds consistently
  • Travel required in leading our regional crews
