About the Role

The Designer I role at RIOS is an entry-level position designed to support project teams through various stages of design, including ideation, modeling, drafting, visualization, and technical production. This role also involves contributing to the broader design process, participating in research, and supporting the maintenance of project files and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design process through ideation, modeling, drafting, visualization, and technical production across project phases.
  • Aid in the preparation of graphics, diagrams, renderings, presentations, and early technical documentation aligned with project goals and design intent.
  • Communicate design concepts and thinking through visual, written, and verbal presentations.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and engage in project tasks and team discussions.
  • Support project teams in conducting research, precedent studies, sustainability investigations, and early technical explorations.
  • Support project teams through digital modeling, visualization, documentation, and presentation development.

Requirements

  • Strong design sensibility and passion for creativity and innovation.
  • Excellent graphic communication and visualization skills.
  • High degree of self-motivation, curiosity, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative and interdisciplinary team environments.
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Commitment to sustainable and responsible design practices.
  • Experience with software such as Revit, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and other visualization or modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows preferred.
  • Experience with Lumion, Grasshopper, Dynamo, SignAgent, or similar design technologies is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent professional experience.
  • 0–3 years of professional experience in Landscape Architecture.

Pay

$67,000 - $79,000 per year.
