Responsibilities

  • Review contracts, leases, deeds, wills, and other legal documentation to determine agency-owned mineral and royalty rights.
  • Conduct a general analysis and interpretation of the provisions of deeds, leases, right of way agreements, run sheets, and title opinions in order to create and maintain appropriate property and lease records.
  • Review and research title to protect the agency's interests and ensure that all necessary title curative work is performed.
  • Analyze and interpret working interests and royalty interests based on deeds, leases, assignments, transfers, decrees, and wills.
  • Analyze existing agreements and leases with lessees and operators to ensure compliance with lease and surface use terms and proper operations of wells.
  • Review state/public websites for drilling operations, well status and production figures.
  • Review production figures to determine if leases are held by production and/or meet lease production requirements.
  • Monitor contract obligations in income-producing situations and analyze existing agency interests, including analysis of Division Orders to ensure proper calculation, distribution and collection of revenue.
  • Prepare agreement summaries for new agreements and communicate same to all concerned departments/individuals.
  • Clerical and data entry work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years related experience.
  • Experience running full title, researching well specific production information in Texas, and identifying leases held by production and minerals available for leasing.
  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of oil and gas contracts, leases, deeds, and title documents.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Out-of-town travel.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Petroleum Engineering, Land Management, Energy Management or related field.
  • In-house experience in an oil and gas company.
  • Registered Landman, Registered Professional Landman, or Certified Professional Landman certification from the American Association of Professional Landmen.
  • Knowledge of basic oil and gas legal principles.
  • Experience researching well specific production information in other states.
  • Knowledge of foreign states' oil and gas resources.
  • Geographic Information Systems mapping experience.
  • Membership in American Association of Professional Landman.

Education And Experience

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years related experience are also required.

Salary

$3,742.67 - $6,250.00 per month commensurate with experience.
