Landman

About the Role

A junior-level land position requiring intermediate knowledge of negotiation and advanced land management principles, along with strong communication and organizational skills. The role involves executing increasing duties under limited direct supervision of a senior Landman or Manager to meet company objectives.

Responsibilities

• Secure necessary title clearance, contracts, permits, and approvals for the drilling and production of oil and gas.
• Coordinate operational activities with landowners and third parties.
• Assist in obtaining and evaluating title and contracts, and aid in the negotiation, leasing, and purchase of real property.
• Help conduct due diligence in the acquisition and divestiture of assets.
• Prepare initial drafts of contracts and memos under direct supervision.
• Assemble and present PowerPoint presentations to peers and/or management with support from senior staff.
• Coordinate and research regulatory and governmental filings, applications, and hearings; testify at hearings as needed.
• Conduct business with the highest ethical standards, ensuring the safety of all persons associated with SM facilities.
• Perform various other duties as assigned by the senior Landman or Manager.

Skills

Computer/Software Applications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with company-specific software and applications, including QLS, SAP, and Aucerna Execute.
• Proficient in land research resources such as Texas File, County Government Records, and Enverus applications.

Role-Specific Technical Knowledge

• Competent in contract provisions and leasing titles with intermediate knowledge of land management principles.
• Basic knowledge of geological principles, operations, reservoir engineering, and basin/resource plays.

Qualifications

Education

B.B.A. degree in Energy Management, Land Management, or another Business degree.

Experience

Minimum of 2 years of industry work experience.
