Land Use Planner

Venable LLP's Land Use & Zoning Practice Group seeks a Land User Planner with a minimum of three years of experience to join the practice in the Tysons, VA or Washington, D.C. office.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing planning and zoning expertise on complex land use projects, including site development plans, subdivision plats, and other related documents. They will also assist in preparing and presenting project proposals to clients and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide planning and zoning expertise on complex land use projects
• Prepare and present project proposals to clients and regulatory agencies
• Assist in the preparation of site development plans, subdivision plats, and other related documents
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
• Conduct research and analysis to support project decisions
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and regulatory bodies

Requirements

• A minimum of three years of relevant experience in land use planning and zoning
• A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications

• Knowledge of local, state, and federal land use and zoning laws
• Experience with GIS software and land use modeling tools
• Understanding of environmental regulations and sustainable development principles
