Land Surveyor

About the role

Assist with field surveys across multiple project types, including boundary, topographic, and construction surveys. Support data reduction, digital terrain modeling, and surface creation. Prepare right-of-way plats, certified survey maps, boundary surveys, and other survey-related documents. Assist with drafting and survey computations. Collaborate with project teams while maintaining the ability to work independently in the field. Travel as needed to support project demands.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field surveys (boundary, topographic, construction)
• Support data reduction, digital terrain modeling, and surface creation
• Prepare right-of-way plats, certified survey maps, and boundary surveys
• Assist with drafting and survey computations
• Collaborate with project teams and work independently in the field
• Travel as needed for projects, meetings, and overnight stays

Requirements

• Willingness and ability to work overtime as project schedules require
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
• Ability to walk and climb over rough terrain and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work outdoors for 8–12 hours in varying weather conditions
• Ability to travel for projects, meetings, and overnight stays as needed
• Valid driver’s license with a driving record meeting SEH’s Driving Program requirements (MVR records check required)
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with basic surveying procedures, including:
  • Boundary and land surveys
  • Topographic surveys
  • Construction staking methods using Total Stations and GPS
• Experience with drafting, survey computations, and interpreting plans and easement descriptions
• Field experience using Trimble survey equipment
• Working knowledge of:
  • AutoCAD
  • Trimble Business Center
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)

Pay

Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $72,000 and $100,000 based on skill set and experience.
