About the role

Thew Associates PE-LS, PLLC seeks highly motivated land surveyors in Western New York to perform various surveying and mapping services including topographic, boundary retracement, construction, hazardous waste site, and as-built surveys; hydrographic (multi- and single beam acoustic, ADCP, magnetometer, sub-bottom profiling, and sediment sampling); terrestrial laser scanning, and sUAS (drone) services.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various surveying and mapping services
  • Work with Trimble GPS/GNSS devices, robotic total stations, and data collection devices
  • Perform static and RTK GPS/GNSS surveys
  • Perform random traversing and differential leveling
  • Perform document research, boundary line reconnaissance, and property line blazing
  • Prepare mapping in AutoCAD (preferably Civil 3D)
  • Take clear and concise field notes with sketches
  • Travel and stay out-of-town on a frequent basis

Requirements

  • A.A.S. in Surveying Technology or B.S. in Surveying Engineering
  • Two years' experience performing field surveys
  • Working knowledge of Trimble GPS/GNSS devices, robotic total stations, and data collection devices
  • Experience performing static and RTK GPS/GNSS surveys
  • Experience performing random traversing and differential leveling
  • Experience performing document research, boundary line reconnaissance, and property line blazing
  • Ability to prepare topographic surveys for engineering design
  • Ability to take clear and concise field notes with sketches
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (preferably Civil 3D)
  • Ability to work independently

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Civil 3D (Release 2013 or higher)
  • Experience with single- and/or multi-beam acoustic sonar and Hypack hydrographic surveying software
