Land Survey Project Manager

About the Role

Stantec is seeking a Land Surveyor to join the Survey & Mapping team in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will perform public record research and calculations to resolve property boundaries and rights of way, review survey technicians' work, and serve as project manager on various sized survey projects. You will assist in crew scheduling for multiple crews, prepare crews for field work, and assist in preparing construction staking calculations and reports. Occasional field work may be required, along with maintaining, repairing, and calibrating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the local survey team.
• Sell services and prepare scope and fee estimates.
• Perform survey calculations, analysis, and final map checking.
• Abstract title data and conduct record drawings research.
• Maintain client relations.
• Sign and seal survey documents.
• Monitor projects from initiation through delivery, interfacing with clients on technical and business matters.
• Collaborate with geospatial and design team members, including registered surveyors, engineers, and technical staff.
• Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.
• Manage, mentor, and train direct reports.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Requirements

• Advanced knowledge of local survey laws, surveying principles, techniques, and procedures.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in survey processing software.
• Well-developed understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of survey work.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and field instrumentation (GPS, robotic total stations).
• Ability to solve complex problems using professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Experience managing field and office survey staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Geospatial, Surveying, or related field (preferred).
• Professional land surveyor licensed in North Carolina.
• Minimum of 8 years of Land Survey experience.

Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.

Pay

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
