About the role

Control Point Associates, a leading land surveying firm with over 30 years of experience, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its team in Virginia Beach, VA. The role involves overseeing surveying projects, ensuring quality control, managing client relationships, and contributing to business development in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Quality control of all survey documents, including survey plans, record plots, metes‑and‑bounds descriptions, title commitment reports, and construction layout services.
  • Provide weekly progress and status reports on project deliverables to stakeholders and management.
  • Administer surveying activities, overseeing staff, technical resources, and client communication across multiple projects.
  • Prepare and execute quality‑control reviews, safety, and quality‑assurance procedures.
  • Communicate the Integrated Business Model in written and verbal business‑development discussions, maintaining a strong market presence.
  • Initiate and participate in business‑development activities to acquire new and retain existing clients.
  • Seek opportunities to increase client satisfaction and deepen relationships.
  • Monitor project budgets, ensure profitability, prepare and review billing reports for monthly invoicing, and coordinate with accounting on collections.
  • Develop staff, prepare contracts, and maintain accountability for financial metrics.
  • Champion the company’s brand, values, and culture through professional demeanor and attitude.
  • Exemplify commitment by working the hours needed and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of survey experience.
  • Licensed Land Surveyor preferred but not required.
  • Proven track record of business development and leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong client‑relationship skills and ability to interact at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent communication, diplomacy, and listening skills; responsive to client needs.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex drawings and documents.
  • Competence with computers, technical software, spreadsheets, and business applications.
  • Driven to succeed and work collaboratively.
  • Physical ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and perform light to moderate lifting.
