Land Survey Intern

About the role

Dewberry is currently seeking a Land Survey Intern for Summer 2027. Applicant must be responsible, highly motivated, and a detail oriented individual interested in joining our Land Surveying team in the Danville, VA area. As part of the Summer Intern Program, interns gain hands-on project experience, develop technical skills, and put classroom knowledge into action. Interns are assigned meaningful work, work on projects similar to full-time employees, and participate in workshops and events including networking opportunities, learning about Dewberry’s services, projects, and clients, professional development workshops (career planning and DiSC assessment), and a summer-long group project alongside firm leaders to address future strategy. Responsibilities

• Assist the field supervisor with all aspects of the daily crew workload.
• Work in a safe manner and obey all safety regulations.
• Daily uploading and downloading of data collectors.
• Operate survey total stations, data collectors and levels.
• Daily care and charging of instrumentation.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (minimum).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving record check.
• Dependable.
• Physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
• Ability to repetitively stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs (including body weight, equipment, tools and boxes); ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces.
• Willing to work overtime as required.
• Willing and able to travel for out‑of‑town assignments.
• Note: Dewberry will not sponsor a new applicant for work authorization.

Pay

Salary Range: $18.75/hour – $29.75/hour (may vary slightly based on skills, experience, location, and market conditions).
