Essential Functions
- Teach safe, organized, and quality classes, beginning and ending on time, in accordance with what is scheduled, and in consideration of those participating.
- Maintain current instructor and CPR certifications.
- Understand the procedures to be followed in the event of any injury or emergency.
- Have a basic understanding of exercise physiology and make a dedicated effort to expand knowledge and understanding of latest trends and findings in the fields of fitness and exercise science.
- Present proof of participation and completion of at least one workshop per year in addition to the Recreation Center Certification Workshop.
- Respect and endeavor to maintain equipment by using properly, cleaning as instructed, and returning to designated storage area following class. Dust mop floor as necessary upon conclusion of classes.
- Dress appropriately. Clothing and appearance should be neat and clean.
- Arrange for a substitute if unable to instruct scheduled class and notify Aerobics Coordinator of such arrangement.
- Maintain and promote a fit and healthy lifestyle and demonstrate a positive attitude.
- Understand the procedures, rules, and responsibilities specific to the Claremore Super Recreation Center.
- Promote and utilize the Claremore Super Recreation Center, support its activities, and respect fellow employees.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Knowledge: Must possess basic understanding of all areas of healthy lifestyle.
- Abilities: Come to work on time, follow directions, be honest and dependable, maintain safe work environment, be cooperative, have a positive attitude, be courteous and considerate team member, manage time effectively, concentrate on work, recognize problems and find solutions. Must possess ability to meet and deal with public, be outgoing, friendly, and motivational.
- Skill: Must be coordinated and in good physical condition. Must possess desire to organize and develop class content. Must be aware of all participants, able to cue exercises and communicate proper exercise techniques and positions in ongoing class setting.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be insurable by the City’s insurance company
Tools and Equipment
- Lifesaving equipment, audio system, and a variety of exercise equipment used in a class setting.
Physical Demands
- Lead physically challenging group exercise classes which may include aerobics, step aerobics, plyometric, muscular strength, weight training, endurance training, and/or flexibility exercises.
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy.
