About the role

Lancaster Veterinary Specialties, a small specialty hospital in Lancaster, PA offering Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, and Ophthalmology services, is seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Part‑Time Veterinary Assistant. The role involves supporting veterinary technicians and specialists in a fast‑paced environment, gaining exposure to specialty medicine, and contributing to a collaborative team.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of veterinary hospital experience
• Strong animal restraint and handling skills
• Dependable and punctual with a consistent attendance record
• Self‑motivated; able to recognize tasks without waiting for direction
• Ability to work with urgency and adjust priorities throughout the day
• Comfortable receiving direction from multiple team members in a busy hospital
• Positive and professional communication with coworkers, doctors, and clients
• Willingness to jump in and help wherever needed
• Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail
• Genuine enjoyment of teamwork and contributing to a positive work environment

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinary technicians and specialists with patient care
• Safe restraint and handling of dogs and cats
• Prepare patients and treatment areas for procedures
• Assist with in‑house laboratory testing and sample preparation
• Clean, package, and sterilize surgical instruments
• Maintain cleanliness of treatment and patient areas
• Stock supplies and keep work areas organized
• Assist with patient flow throughout the hospital
• Support the client service team when needed
• Anticipate needs and help keep the day moving efficiently

Pay

$16–$20 per hour, depending on veterinary experience and skill level.

Schedule

Part‑time position averaging approximately 2–3 shifts per week. Shifts are primarily daytime into early evening. No weekends. No holidays.
