Lamination Technician I
About the role
Performs elementary and routine mix and lay-up of composite materials, fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto mold surface using various hand tools. Utilizes open mold and vacuum infusion processes. Works with various resins, gelcoats, fiberglass materials, foam, and structural adhesives. Installs wood and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds. Operates a variety of power tools including but not limited to saws, drills, grinders, and overhead hoists.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine mixing and lay-up of composite materials (fiberglass, resins, catalysts, gelcoats, foam, and adhesives) using open mold and vacuum infusion processes.
- Prepare molds and apply fiberglass materials using hand tools in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
- Sand, grind, and finish fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds to required specifications.
- Install wood cores, inserts, and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and molded parts.
- Operate power tools and equipment such as saws, drills, grinders, sanders, overhead hoists, and related tooling safely.
- Safely operate forklifts and/or tugger vehicles to transport, stage, load, and unload molds, materials, and finished components within the facility.
Requirements
- Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching.
- Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
- Flexibility to work overtime both planned and unplanned to meet company goals.
- Adherence to all quality standards and adherence to new standards as processes evolve.
- Record of dependability and reliability with prior work or professional experience.
- Ability to work well with team’s professionals.
- Able to read and understand blueprints.
- Skills in forklift, overhead hoist, computer, fiberglass and/or gel-coat applications preferred.
- 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Marine industry experience highly preferred.
Qualifications
- Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned area.
- Regularly required to work at heights on platforms, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment across multiple departments.
Skills
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Skills in forklift, overhead hoist, computer, fiberglass and/or gel-coat applications preferred.
- 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Marine industry experience highly preferred.

Pay
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $20.50 to $23.18, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
