About the role
The role of Lamination Technician is vital to the growth of Materials Sciences LLC. This role manufactures products utilizing pre-preg lamination, wet lamination and resin infusion.
Responsibilities
- Working under minimal supervision
- Performs a variety of tasks, which require knowledge of lamination techniques, materials, tools and equipment.
- Reads/Interprets and follows Manufacturing and Inspection Procedures (MIPs) and Work Orders.
- Preparing mold or tool surface properly with release film, wax and other part release products
- Using pre-preg lamination techniques, cuts cloth and lays up products of varying tolerances.
- Preparing products for vacuum bagging (pre-preg) and resin infusion.
- Handling, applying, storing and disposing of composite materials, adhesives, sealants, resins and solvents per OSHA regulation.
- Supports and exhibits the focus of zero defects as well as "right-the-first-time" approach.
- Inspecting finished products for conformance to specifications.
- Completing of all required documentation.
- Inspecting laminate surfaces for defects, imperfections, foreign material (FOD) or other non-conformance, and correcting as necessary
- Complies with established safety directives.
- Maintains a clean work area
- Complies with established QMS procedures.
- Sand/trim composite materials (fiberglass, carbon, Kevlar) to proper dimensions based on MIPs, Work Orders and drawings
- Understanding basic math to calculate, weigh, mix and catalyze resin
- Lift up to 50 lbs
- Other duties as required
Working Conditions
- May be requested to work extended hours or weekends.
- May be exposed to noise and hazardous chemicals.
Requirements
- A high school diploma
- A United States Citizen
- An understanding of basic tools

- Organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for this role as the final manufactured components are typically high performance and require extreme precision.
Skills
- Knowledge of lamination techniques, materials, tools and equipment
- Ability to read and interpret MIPs and Work Orders
- Ability to prepare mold/tool surfaces
- Ability to handle, apply, store and dispose of composite materials
- Ability to inspect and correct finished products
- Basic math skills for calculating, weighing, mixing and catalyzing resin
