About the role

Performs elementary and routine mix and lay-up of composite materials, fiberglass, resins, and catalysts onto mold surfaces using various hand tools. Utilizes open mold and vacuum infusion processes. Works with various resins, gelcoats, fiberglass materials, foam, and structural adhesives. Installs wood and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds. Operates a variety of power tools including saws, drills, grinders, and overhead hoists. Locates parts by hand or by utilizing detailed blueprints, work instructions, tools, and/or fixtures. Sands fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine mixing and lay-up of composite materials (fiberglass, resins, catalysts, gelcoats, foam, and adhesives) using open mold and vacuum infusion processes.
• Prepare molds and apply fiberglass materials using hand tools in accordance with work instructions and quality standards.
• Sand, grind, and finish fiberglass hulls, decks, and small part molds to required specifications.
• Install wood cores, inserts, and other components into fiberglass hulls, decks, and molded parts.
• Operate power tools and equipment such as saws, drills, grinders, sanders, overhead hoists, and related tooling safely.
• Safely operate forklifts and/or tugger vehicles to transport, stage, load, and unload molds, materials, and finished components within the facility.

Requirements

• Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching, climbing on and through stairs, molds, and staging.
• Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
• Flexibility to work overtime both planned and unplanned to meet company goals.
• Adhere to all quality standards and adapt to new standards as processes evolve.
• Demonstrate record of dependability and reliability with prior work or professional experience.
• Ability to work well with team professionals.
• Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
• Ability to work in close proximity to co-workers and in areas with limited space.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment across multiple departments.

Qualifications

• Required:
  • Ability to work extended shifts involving standing, bending, reaching, and climbing.
  • Dependability and reliability in prior work experience.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
• Preferred:
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Skills in forklift operation, overhead hoist, computer use, fiberglass, and/or gel-coat applications.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Marine industry experience.

Working Conditions

• May be required to work in a non-air-conditioned area.
• Regularly required to work at heights on platforms, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment.

Pay

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $20.50 to $23.18 per hour. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
