Lactation Consultant Per Diem

Responsibilities

• Counsels breastfeeding dyads in an ongoing & systematic manner, attentive to the physiologic, psychologic, & cognitive status of the patient.
• Develops a plan of care that educates & directs nursing staff & patients in appropriate management to achieve breastfeeding success.
• Collaborates with the health care team to deliver a plan of care specific to breastfeeding patients' needs.
• Prioritizes consultation/intervention/education based on maternal/infant status, learning needs, length of stay, & available resources.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of LC interventions, plan of care, & patient progression towards expected outcomes using an interdisciplinary approach.
• Provides breastfeeding support & education to staff & patients within Danbury Hospital & in the community.

Requirements

• Minimum Experience: three years
• Desired: Masters in Nursing
