Laborer Refuse/ Recycle

Primary Responsibilities

• City-wide collection of refuse and recyclables
• Bulk items, bagged yard waste, leaves, brush, and apartment building refuse
• Assist in other Divisions as needed
• Flexible scheduling and duties

Examples of Duties

• Collection of refuse and recyclables
• Serve as backup for the Refuse/Recycling Truck Operators
• Assist in the maintenance of the Transfer Station
• Transfer to Streets Division for snow and ice control from January 1st to April 1st (working 11:00pm to 7:00am)

Typical Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Excellent physical condition to perform manual labor outdoors in all climatic conditions
• Valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B and excellent driving record
• Previous experience driving various types of large vehicles, including dump trucks, rear load packer refuse trucks, and side loading refuse trucks
• Able to safely lift approximately 90 lbs independently
• Able to carry out verbal and written instructions
• Able to work well with others
• Must assist in all other departmental activities as requested including leaf collection and snow/ice removal
• Reliable attendance
