Laborer - Milling Crew

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of a superintendent, the Laborer performs a variety of manual or semiskilled tasks related to road building and maintenance of road building equipment and facilities.

RESPONSIBILITES

• Maintain constant awareness of ongoing operations in your surrounding area while safely and efficiently completing required physical tasks
• Tasks may include, but are not limited to jack hammering, shoveling, cleaning, traffic control or assisting with any other milling operation related task
• Must be able to follow instructions and have a good work ethic
• Have the ability and willingness to learn new things

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
• The ability to lift and carry heavy loads OF 40 - 50 POUNDS OR MORE ON a daily basis
• The ability to understand and carry out verbal and or written directions paying attention to detail
• The ability to stand for long periods of time. (10-12 hours)

QUALIFICATIONS

• A High School diploma/GED
• Prior construction or paving experience preferred but not required
• Possesses a strong work ethic, teamwork and respect to all individuals
• Must possess a valid driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record, and have reliable transportation
• Candidates must be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends, as projects demand
• Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test as well as random tests if selected during employment
