Louisiana Bridge Builders (LBB) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.
About the role
The Laborer - Driver II supports Louisiana Bridge Builders by performing general construction labor while safely operating and driving company vehicles (including ready-mix trucks or other assigned commercial vehicles) to transport materials and equipment.
This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.
Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare construction project site by removing debris and possible hazards.
- Load, transport, and unload concrete in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain proper slump and consistency of concrete during transit and delivery.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, plant personnel, and customers regarding delivery schedules and job site conditions.
- Load or unload materials to be used during construction.
- Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Safely operate a ready-mix concrete truck to deliver materials to various job sites.
- Accurately complete delivery tickets, logs, and required documentation.
- Dig trenches, backfill holes, or compact earth to prepare for construction.
- Operate power tools and hand tools.
- Assist skilled trades, such as electricians and carpenters, with their duties.
- Perform all tasks efficiently and safely.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
- Current Medical Examiners Certificate.
- Clean driving record in compliance with LBB and DOT Standards.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- At least 5+ years experience with construction labor and operating a ready-mix truck.
- Knowledge of local roads and job site navigation is a plus.
