Laborer-General

This is a temporary, full-time position anticipated to last up to 6 to 12 months. Work is 100% in-person at the job site in Roseville and not eligible for remote work.

About the role

Perform entry-level work in a variety of trade areas involving modular furniture, including designing modular office layouts, removing and installing modular office parts, and repairing building walls and equipment through established procedures and under general supervision. This position also performs occasional mail courier duties as backup to the regular driver and drives to various MnDOT locations frequently.

Requirements

• Strong mathematical aptitude
• Organizational skills sufficient to order and track parts
• Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and construction work
• Ability to operate a variety of building-related tools (e.g., hand tools, drills, circular saw)
• Mechanical ability to assemble, disassemble, and repair modular furniture
• Physical ability to frequently carry up to 60-pound boxes and move up to 1,000-pound loads with equipment
• Forklift operator certification or ability to obtain certification
• Valid Class D Driver’s License
• Pass a background check prior to employment (components may include employment verification, criminal history check, reference check, education/license verification, and driver’s license verification)

Preferred Qualifications

• Customer service skills sufficient to communicate professionally with customers
• Experience using Outlook to read, compose, and respond to email
• Experience with spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel for data entry and inventory management
• Computer experience sufficient to complete required online training (e.g., workplace safety, cyber security)

Pay

$21.33 - $24.63 per hour; $44,537 - $51,427 annually.

Schedule

• Day shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Days of work: Monday - Friday
• No travel required
