About the role
The Laborer/Extra Production Expeditor will perform general labor activities for the entire plant, including plant clean-up, train and cover Production Expeditor vacancies for a 24/7 operation. Production Expeditors observe equipment, assist in determining cause of equipment and process problems while maintaining communication with the Control Room Operator (CRO) to keep all processes flowing.
Responsibilities
- Perform general labor activities for the entire plant, including plant clean-up.
- Perform general housekeeping assignments and maintain cleanliness of plant work areas.
- Operate safely, inspect, and lubricate all mobile equipment, as required including but not limited to bobcat, forklift, sweeper, loader, high-reach, telehandler, and overhead crane in accordance with standard operation procedures.
- Perform all relevant tasks required for the preparation and loading of rail cars including the operation of the rail car pusher.
- Keep all process material pathways open and material flowing properly using all available tools including air lances, power-shot devices, high pressure water lances, etc.
- Fill all current and future raw material additive bins associated with the raw mill, kiln or cement mills.
- Ensure cement and raw materials are directed to the proper destination and monitor material levels as required.
- Manage raw material stockpiles and move raw materials into storage areas as required.
- Respond independently to operational problems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and practices; or as directed by the CRO and Shift Foreman, maintaining communication with CRO and shift foreman.
- Perform regular inspection of all plant equipment.
- Perform minor repairs and adjustments to plant equipment.
- Load and move bypass dust as required throughout the facility.
- Assist and/or load rail cars when required.
- Fill fuel tanks as required to maintain steady operation of the kiln.
- Obtain operational data as required and convey information as necessary.
- Operate, inspect limestone stacker / reclaimer.
- Backfill current and future jobs as required (which are on rotating three shifts).
- Absorb shift personnel, as required.
- Perform process sampling duties (hot meal).
- Complete welding and burning assignments as required within safety standards.
- Responsible for throwing switches, 480V and below only.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and procedures; assist with physical inspections of plant property/departments.
- Understand and comply with all safety regulations.
- Identify and correct safety hazards; participate in regular safety training, safety topic meetings and task training.
- Cooperate with all external inspectors as necessary.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid, unrestricted driver's license.
- Able to satisfy ATF application requirements for Cardox use.
- Able to work swing shifts, extended hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
- Able to successfully complete on-the-job training.
Physical Requirements
- Able to wear all required MSHA safety equipment.
- Climb steps and ladders, traverse walkways (including catwalks) and work at high elevations.
- Work in confined spaces and awkward positions which require the ability to twist, turn, bend, crouch, stoop, and kneel.
- Lift/carry/push/pull up to 94 lbs.
- Able to safely operate mobile plant equipment to standards, enter & exit vehicles safely (by pulling body weight into vehicle while maintaining a minimum three-point contact).
- Good eyesight for close, distance, and depth perception.
- Adequate hearing to be aware of equipment malfunction.
- Dexterity with both hands, extended reaching with both hands and arms.
- Physically capable of performing strenuous assignments.
- Proper use of standard labor tools including but not limited to jackhammers, shovels, and sledgehammers.
- Able to stand on hard surfaces and traverse uneven work surfaces.
- Work in and exposure to dust, noise, extreme heat, and all types of weather conditions.
- Able to sit for long periods of time when operating equipment.
- Proper wear and use of respirator, when required.
Starting pay
- $25.32/hour during probation as Laborer.
- $28.13/hour upon completion of 75 working day probationary period for Laborer and when working as a Laborer.
- $34.85/hour when training and working as a Production Expeditor.
Additional shift differential
- $1.50/hr. when working 2nd shift.
- $1.80/hr. when working 3rd shift.
