About the role

The Laborer / Equipment Operator is responsible for performing a variety of manual labor duties and safely operating equipment to support aggregate, asphalt, construction, or quarry operations. This position assists with daily production, maintenance, and site activities while promoting a culture focused on safety, quality, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence. The role requires flexibility to perform both labor and equipment operation responsibilities as needed.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)

  • Perform general labor duties to support plant, quarry, construction, or yard operations.
  • Operate equipment such as front-end loaders, skid steers, excavators, dozers, haul trucks, water trucks, rollers, and other equipment as assigned.
  • Load, move, stockpile, and transport materials safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with plant operations, production activities, and maintenance projects.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete required documentation.
  • Perform routine equipment servicing, including fueling, greasing, cleaning, and fluid checks.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.
  • Assist with repairs, cleanup, housekeeping, and other site maintenance activities.
  • Follow established work procedures and production schedules to meet operational goals.
  • Work safely around moving equipment, machinery, and other personnel.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
  • Experience in construction, aggregate, quarry, mining, asphalt, concrete, or related industries preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance knowledge are beneficial.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently sits, climbs, and uses hands to signal and handle equipment.
  • Occasionally stands, walks, crawls, kneels, bends, and reaches with hands and arms above their shoulders.
  • Periodically lifts and/or moves anywhere up to 50-75 lbs.
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock.
  • Constantly exposed to noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Exposed to working in a small company environment while having the career opportunities of a large international organization.
