About the Role
This role involves the installation and maintenance of natural gas pipelines, along with a variety of underground construction tasks.
Responsibilities
- Dig trenches for sewer, water, and natural gas pipelines
- Install pipelines and backfill excavations with asphalt
- Enter and exit excavations varying in depth from 2’ to 5’
- Shovel and rake dirt or hot asphalt
- Operate jackhammers to break up roadways, sidewalks, or concrete
- Carry materials or equipment between trucks and jobsites
- Use a chop saw to cut concrete and a hammer drill to core through concrete foundations
- Enter basements or crawlspaces to perform pipefitting or meter service work
- Perform basic pipe fitting with pipe sizes from ½” to 2”
- Tap and stop off water or gas service tees from the main line
- Perform push/pull activities associated with underground construction work
- Additional safety-sensitive duties as required
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of construction site experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience operating a variety of simple and complex tools
- Physical strength, hand-eye coordination, and endurance
- Excellent customer service skills
- Heavy construction equipment experience (highly desirable)
