About the Role
Zachry Construction is seeking a Batch Plant Laborer to support operations at the concrete batch plant. The Batch Plant Laborer performs various tasks, including cleaning, maintaining, and supporting plant operations to ensure safety and efficiency. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to working safely in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks involving physical labor in and around the concrete batch plant.
- Shovel rock and sand, clean debris, and maintain the surrounding plant area.
- Operate a water cannon to wash the bed of dump trucks as needed.
- Blow cement and fly ash into the concrete plant and perform mixer chipping when required.
- Assist concrete, drainage, and retaining wall crews with general labor activities.
- Load and unload materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Set up and maintain traffic control or flagging when necessary.
- Operate hand and power tools to complete assigned work.
- Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.
- Work safely in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
- Adhere to all Zachry safety guidelines and participate in site safety programs.
- Perform other labor-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in heavy highway, road, concrete, or bridge construction.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks involving bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
- General construction labor skills and willingness to assist multiple crews.
- Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with traffic control and flagging practices preferred.
- Flagging and Traffic Control certification a plus.
- Dependable, safety-conscious, and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying and sometimes harsh weather conditions.
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
