Laborer

Essential Functions

• Adheres to plant and department safety rules, safely operates all equipment and tools, identifies and reports safety problems, corrects when possible.
• Transports material from production through final packaging, via forklift or other manual and mobilized equipment.
• Loads and unloads material for shot blast operations or other value-added service.
• Packages material into drums, Gaylords, boxes or super sacks according to customer specification, this includes adherence to weight specification.
• Identifies product through labeling and stencils.
• Performs visual quality inspection of product.
• Unloads trucks with incoming materials.
• Maintains a clean work environment.
• Performs miscellaneous functions as needed in various departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2-4 years' experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts preferred.
• Must have attention for detail, including basic math skills with the ability to add and subtract accurately.
• Proficient in the basic use of a computer to facilitate the entry and completion of work orders.
• Able to use basic hand tools.
• Must physically be able to frequently lift up to 35 lbs. with frequent bending.
• Able to multi-task with shifting priorities and multiple interruptions.
• Able to work shifts and overtime as needed, including 12-hour shifts.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Dimensions

• Must be able to frequently reach overhead, bend/stoop, push/pull, twist, stand, walk, perform repetitive hand movements, and lift and/or carry up to 35lbs.
• Frequent requirement to operate a forklift and hand tools.
• Visually must be able to inspect product.
• Works primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, flames, water and extreme heat and cold.
• Occasional exposure to vibrations and noise.
