Laborer
About the role
Maintains and operates equipment such as lawnmowers, hand buffers, hatchets, saws, and other tools. Performs physical labor including digging, filling, stacking, and moving heavy objects.
Responsibilities
- Runs and maintains lawnmowers and hand buffers.
- Uses crowbars, shears, hatchets, handsaws, and clippers to open crates and cut bands.
- Lifts, carries, and stacks heavy boxes and cartons.
- Clears small trees and bushes using various tools.
- Shovels snow, sand, or dirt from sidewalks.
- Collects and empties garbage cans, burns garbage and trash.
- Washes and waxes cars and trucks.
Requirements
Irregular working hours may be required to include early shift, late shift, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to run lawnmowers and use hand buffers, hatchets, saws, hand and other tools requiring the same level of knowledge and skill.
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs, follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work safely while moving light to heavy weight objects.
Physical Effort
Exerts moderately heavy physical effort in doing such tasks as occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects (weighing about 50 lbs.); frequently lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects weighing up to 40 lbs.; frequently pushing heavy furniture, loaded carts, etc.
Working Conditions
- Indoor and outdoor working conditions may expose the worker to temperature extremes, drafts, noise, dust and dirt, and require standing on concrete floors for long periods.
- The tools, equipment, and heavy objects involved occasionally present chances of serious injury.
