About the role
North Wind Dynamics, LLC (NWD) is an Alaska Native Corporation-owned, SBA-certified 8(a) small disadvantaged business specializing in facilities maintenance, management, and operations support. NWD delivers reliable, mission-aligned services including base operations support, facilities management, landscaping, janitorial and pest control, environmental support, safety and quality management, training, IT data center management, security, equipment maintenance, and logistics.
Under supervision, this position performs general roads and grounds maintenance activities and other duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Operate mobile and powered equipment such as mowers, weed trimmers, tractors, bush hogs, snow blowers, chain saws, powered edgers, dump trucks, and trailers.
- Load, transport, and relocate office equipment, furniture, and construction materials.
- Mix and apply fertilizers and herbicides using hand or automatic sprayers/spreaders, including calibration of sprayers.
- Perform snow removal from walkways and roadways, and apply anti-icing materials to prevent safety incidents.
- Install and maintain fencing.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and authorized to work in the U.S.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a government vehicle.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy “L” security clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Kentucky license for herbicide application.
Skills
- Operate commercial mowers and heavy equipment such as tractors.
- Operate weed trimmers and spool line as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous laborer experience.
Physical Demands & Working Environment
- Work is conducted both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to outside weather conditions.
- Noise level is normally mild to moderate.
- Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
- Must be able to stand for long periods and walk across uneven terrain.
- Must meet physical capacity requirements as determined by the Occupational Medical Provider.
- Must be able to wear company-provided personal protection equipment when required.
