Location: San Diego, California. Full-time position with occasional travel (0-25%) to support operations in Kings Bay, GA and Bangor, WA. Must be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
About the role
To support design and demolition needs, as well as dive maintenance, for animal enclosures in accordance with US Navy policies and protocols for the Navy Marine Mammal Program. You will work on exciting and challenging projects for federal clients nationwide in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Building and installation of on-water facilities in support of the Navy-Marine Mammal Program.
- Regular underwater maintenance for Sea Lion Enclosures and Dolphin Pens.
- Able to lift 75lbs wet from water to dock.
- Work independently within a set time window.
- Swim above and under water with strong swimming skills.
- Pass yearly dive test and physical.
- Take direction from multiple leads and handle constructive criticism well.
- Adhere to safety standards and work around holidays if necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of general construction experience.
- Able to complete Forklift and Diver certification after hiring, including passing a dive physical.
- Knowledgeable with dive equipment and construction tools.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Must be able to receive a security clearance and pass a DOD background check (history and finances).
Preferred Qualifications
- Able to read blueprints.
- Dive certification.
- Forklift Certified.
- First Aid/CPR Certified.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift 75+ pounds from water to dock.
- Able to bend and maneuver (pull, push, twist, bend, stand) around platforms on water that move with the wake.
Working Environment
Work takes place indoors, outdoors, on water, on boats, and underwater. Exposure to windy conditions and rain.
