Find Your Future With Us at USDA – Animal Plant Health Inspection Service Job Summary In this position you will use a computerized system for inventory control and provide cleaning and decontamination support through routine housekeeping tasks and manual labor for various levels of Bio-Safety Level laboratories, Biologics Development Module, and other office and administrative areas at the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF). Qualifications To qualify, you must show you have had training and experience of sufficient scope and quality to provide you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Major Duties The duties may include, but are not limited to:Adheres to clean/dirty workflows in a scientific environment, ensuring no cross contamination or breech of containment procedures.Performs lab and containment lunchroom cleaning and decontamination tasks.Transports biohazardous waste, glassware, and laundry from autoclaves to designated location.Cleans, decontaminates, and deodorizes waste containers and carts, lifting and carrying 20-30 pounds of waste.Maintains all restroom supplies such as, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. in the restrooms, locker rooms and laboratory spaces.Mixes or blends routine cleaning solutions to proper concentration for decontamination process.Ensures that correct quantities of scrubs, towels, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and general biological laboratory use items.Assists in the tracking and stocking supplies used in the laboratories.Provides general laboratory support for NBAF’s Biosafety Level (BSL)-2, BSL-3E and Ag, BSL-4, and Biotechnology Development Module (BDM).
