Laboratory Technician (Part-Time) - Hughes Lab
Position Overview
The Hughes Lab within the Aging & Metabolism Research Program is seeking a motivated part-time Laboratory Technician to support studies on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate skeletal muscle size and function, particularly in the context of disease and aging.
Responsibilities
- Processing tissue and cell lysate samples, including RNA/DNA isolation and protein biochemistry.
- Learning techniques in cell culture, immunocytochemistry.
- Participating in lab meetings and departmental discussions.
Minimum Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and protocols/procedures.
- Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and meet deadlines.
- Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Highly organized and meticulous to ensure accuracy of data collection and recording.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and initiative to solve problems.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with an interest in Molecular Biology are strongly encouraged to apply.
Work Hours
Part-time schedule with hours occurring between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
