Responsibilities

• Assist with laboratory testing of soil, asphalt, concrete, and aggregate materials in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, TDOT, and project-specific requirements
• Prepare samples and perform basic laboratory tests under the direction of senior technicians or laboratory supervisors
• Pick up and transport samples in accordance with applicable procedures and safety requirements
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
• Properly document and report test results
• Assist with equipment maintenance and calibration
• Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities

This role requires driving to aggregate pits, asphalt plants, and construction sites to pick up samples.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or a comparable combination of education and experience
• Valid driver’s license

No certifications are required for this entry-level position. The following certifications are examples of those you may pursue as you grow in this role:

• ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician – Grade I
• ACI Aggregate Base Testing Technician
• ACI Aggregate Testing Technician
• ACI Masonry Testing Technician
• NICET or equivalent certifications
• ACI Field Testing Technician – Grade I
