About the role
The Department of Pathology is seeking a Laboratory Technician II to assist with the daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities to ensure a smooth operation.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates functional supervision by the ability to direct the daily allocation of resources and coordination of activities.
- Ensures quality service to clients through communications with external and internal laboratories and support staff.
- Performs or directs routine preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment and cleaning as assigned.
- Operates laboratory equipment to complete waived and moderately complex testing on laboratory clinical specimens as assigned.
- Performs phlebotomy.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of related laboratory experience including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent level experience, or Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, or Any combination of related post high school education and experience which totals two years.
- Must be able to provide a high school diploma if no post-secondary degree.
- Mets CLIA 88 requirements and qualifications to perform waived testing (point of care testing).

- Desirable Qualifications: High volume public contact, Experience performing waived testing, including releasing test results, Phlebotomy experience is highly desirable.
