Laboratory Technician I - School of Public Health (Brownsville)
Position Summary
This is a casual part-time position. The individual will provide technical assistance in the preparation of research laboratory materials, provides support for the processing of laboratory specimens from study participants, ensures that data related to these specimens is kept up to date, including inventory data entry and updates, and performs other duties as assigned.
Position Key Accountabilities
- Affords technical assistance in the setup of miscellaneous materials for research laboratories, including preparation of reagents, solutions, autoclaving of materials, labels, etc.
- Serves as support for the processing of specimens collected from research study participants.
- Ensures that data related to these specimens is kept up to date, including inventory data entry and updates.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills
No certification/skills required.
Minimum Education
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Minimum Experience
One year of experience with laboratory and/or scientific procedures is required. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive
This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094.
Residency Requirement
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
