About the role

As a Laboratory Technician I in our Richmond, VA lab, you’ll assist multiple projects with increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies, and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Receive environmental samples into the laboratory according to Onterris SOPs
  • Perform data entry of sample and test information into Laboratory Information System (LIMS)
  • Label sample containers, store them in appropriate locations, and/or contact the proper department to inform them of short holding time and/or rush requests
  • Complete inventory and order inventory as needed
  • Occasional driving for pickups
  • Manage production of bottle preparation and shipments
  • Assist in sample bottle preparation
  • Assist in sample management/archiving and disposal
  • Assist in sample pickup or field sampling, if needed
  • Participate in focus teams to improve efficiency
  • Comply with Onterris Quality Assurance Program
  • Comply with Onterris Health and Safety Plan
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualifications preferred
  • Some lab experience is preferred but not required
  • Must pass drug screening
  • Proficient in computers and database software
  • Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety
  • Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written)
  • Able to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Well organized and have an attention to detail
  • Must be able to lift sample containers, such as coolers, up to 50 lbs

  • Sitting, standing, and walking
  • Lifting 50 pounds several times a day
  • Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds

Pay

$19.00 to $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule

Full-time shift, Sun to Wed (initial training Mon-Fri, 8 hrs/day).
