About the role

Laboratory Technician I is responsible for performing laboratory testing under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor and supporting wellsite operations as needed. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to laboratory safety and quality procedures, and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment. This position also requires flexibility to support other laboratory departments and workflows as business demands change.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run tests in order to perform laboratory required test
  • Run computer programs to collect data from equipment
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment as needed
  • Operate testing equipment as indicated by test specific SOP
  • Ensure sample integrity by preventing cross contamination
  • Read and understand specific test SOPs and protocols
  • Familiarize yourself with MSDS for Laboratory
  • Ensure that sufficient supplies are on hand to complete testing without delays. Place orders as needed
  • Maintain the appearance of work area and ensure equipment is clean
  • Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Stratum
  • Perform various other duties, projects and activities as assigned by supervisor or manager within the physical constraints of the job
  • Support wellsite coring projects as assigned
  • Follow all client, safety, and operational requirements during field assignments
  • Travel to field locations and work flexible schedules when necessary
  • Use established industry protocols and standards for processing core and fluid samples at wellsite locations for testing and analysis at the laboratory
  • Compile and record testing and operational data for review and further analysis

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of testing equipment used and tests to be performed
  • Ability to work closely with fellow employees
  • Goal Oriented, takes initiative, multi-tasking
  • Laboratory Experience
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods of time to different states
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license. Satisfactory driving record as defined in Driver Qualification Policy HRD-12
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
