About the Role

This is a full-time, 3rd shift position (12:00 AM – 8:30 AM, Tuesday – Saturday) focused on microbiology testing.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and follow Quality System documents, including Quality Manual, SOPs, and Methods.
  • Adhere to ISO/IEC 17025, cGMP, GLP, and company quality standards.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in at least one core method and conduct additional assigned methods with minimal supervision.
  • Operate basic lab equipment and set up sample batches for weighing and analysis.
  • Perform accurate and timely sample analysis, including preparation, method application, and data reduction.
  • Maintain accurate records of work, test data, and results in logbooks or eLIMS.
  • Identify samples requiring rechecks and report method/matrix/analytical difficulties with proposed solutions.
  • Maintain clean glassware and prepare solutions for daily testing.
  • Ensure proprietary methodologies are not disclosed without written approval.
  • Respond to client, staff, and co-worker queries and needs.
  • Stay current on technical, industry, and business advancements.
  • Recommend improvements for laboratory equipment or procedures.
  • Foster cooperative working relationships and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Uphold company image through ethical business practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills and responsiveness as an independent problem solver.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in a relevant field, or 0–3 years of experience.
  • Candidates within a commutable distance of Des Moines, IA are encouraged to apply.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, and use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, including repetitive motion.
  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Close and distance vision abilities required.
