Laboratory Technician I IRCAD - Per Diem
About the role
Provides technical support for experiential education courses at IRCAD North America under direct supervision.
Major Responsibilities
- Prepares laboratory environment as outlined by course coordinator and laboratory leadership.
- Prepares instrumentation, equipment, and consumables needed for the course.
- Conducts technical laboratory procedures and animal anesthesia, surgery, and postoperative care.
- Receives, prepares, positions, and performs proper disposition of all tissue samples.
- Affords assistance in the monitoring of research laboratory inventory and equipment and takes appropriate actions.
- Fulfills all DEA regulations related to the receipt, storage, use, destruction, and disposal of controlled substances.
- Affords assistance in maintaining the storage of research data and tissue records.
- Operates all equipment and devices necessary for the performance of laboratory procedures including radiographic equipment.
- Affords assistance in the maintenance of the physical environment.
Education Required
Bachelor's of Science Degree required or its equivalent in experience.
Experience Required
1 year experience in veterinary medicine, research, medical education, or healthcare field required.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
Work in fast paced office/laboratory environment. Requires ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Ability to move and lift heavy objects.
Preferred Job Requirements
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: RVT/LVT, AALAS certification
Experience Required: Prior experience with surgery or anesthesia
